2nd Annual Parkinson’s Together Symposium

What Is This?

Parkinson’s Together 501(c)3 is planning to host a student symposium focused on improving awareness regarding Parkinson’s disease and other neurological conditions. Our goal is to increase connectivity within our diverse community regarding patient care, showing that no matter what field, interest, or hobby a person has, there is a way to make an impact in patient care in a unique way. Similar to our first symposium last year, our educational and interactive symposium will feature patients, researchers, physicians, students, and community organizations coming together to discuss Parkinson’s disease and neurological disorders. We will have keynote speeches led by prominent neurologists and providers, booths for community organizations to promote the work they do, and interactive activities throughout the event led by numerous professionals and the 1819 Learning Lab. Students from multiple universities will have the opportunity  to present their neurology-related mini research posters in a warm, collaborative environment and receive feedback. The date for the symposium will take place on February 17th, 2024 at the Tangeman University Center's Great Hall in the University of Cincinnati.

Why Is This Unique?

Our strong focus on student-involvement and collaboration in Parkinson’s disease research and care sets our event apart from others. While other events aim solely to inform participants on what Parkinson’s disease is and the status of current treatments, we aim to include ways that college students can get involved and provide opportunities for them to make connections with physicians and community organizations. Additionally, this year our event will focus on integrative and at home care, with many of our activities throughout our event based around this theme. Our keynote speeches will cover topics of at-home care and the importance of integrative health, and during the event we will host demonstrations of mindfulness practice led by professionals at the Osher Center for Integrative Health.
